If I tell you, Audi has presented the concept of a car that changes the wheelbase by itself, will you believe it or not? But you have to believe on this ! Yes, you heard it right. There are so many companies out there that are focusing on electric cars, but Audi is giving importance to what they can offer to the people in terms of technology, comfort, safety, and other things.
After presenting the concept of the Audi A4 a few months ago, Audi brings another concept electric car, but this time it is two doors and shown with lots and lots of new features and technologies. The car is named Skysphere. In Skysphere you will have a choice between two different driving experiences the first one is Grand Touring Experience and the second one is Sports Experience.
As the name Grand Touring itself suggests about the meaning. Touring means enjoying the ride in a comfortable manner. In Skyspere the electric motors and a sophisticated mechanism with body and frame components that slide into one another make it possible to vary the wheelbase itself and the exterior length of the car by 250 millimeters so that you can seat back and enjoy the autonomous driving. At the same time, the vehicle’s ground clearance is adjusted by 10 millimeters to enhance comfort and driving dynamics. And, when you find a need to enjoy the feel of ride with the car, you can shift it to the Sports experience. In Sports experience, the car itself reduces the wheelbase and the rear-wheel steering ensures that the vehicle remains extremely agile despite its dimensions.
The Skysphere is not limited to the technologies and features only, but it has also been offered by a battery pack and electric motors that total produce 632 PS of power and 750 Nm of torque and it only weighs around 1800Kg. It can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4 sec and the car has a range of more than 500 kilometers according to the WLTP standard.
In Skysphere, the steering system that you will get to see is the steer-by-wire system instead of mechanical linkages. So, because of the no mechanical linkages system, you can select the different steering ratios and steering settings from sporty feel to comfortable feel by just touching a button. The vehicle is fitted with an adaptive suspension setup that automatically detects the driving mode and adjusts accordingly. Suppose, you are in sports mode then suspension detects it and lowers the body by 10mm to reduce the aerodynamic drag. The car styling increases by 23-inch alloy rims and 285/30 tires that perfectly fits to both the touring and sports mode. The Skysphere is 5.23 meters in length and 1.85 meters in width, which makes it to have a massive road presence.
Audi is all set to bring more concepts after Skyphere headed as Grandshpere and Urbansphere in 2022 that shows the future vision of Audi electric mobility with luxury. These concepts force the people to reimagine the ultimate interior, the disappearing driving layout, luxury, and sheer expanse of the cabin. Audi is also providing the customizing option for infotainment. There are a bunch of things to talk, about this supremely luxurious and futuristic Audi concept which are all on their way.
